I just downloaded Worldwide Telescope from Microsoft.
It's a really sweet and beautiful application, which if you have even an inkling of an interest about the universe, you've got to appreciate.
Looks like it's built from photosynth technology.
Here's the TED presentation for the software itself. If you download it (best down via IE, it's Microsoft after all) make sure to check out the planet earth at night guided tour -- beautiful!

I remember seeing this before and its crazy hot what you can view through it. Would've been even nicer to open source since I don't see any revenue being made by it and is a great tool for anyone interested in astronomy.

Definitely one of the nicest looking space-apps to debut in recent years. I read Nils' review of it, but haven't booted up Windows to try it yet.
The last similar app I tried was Google's extension of Earth, which I felt was a bit of a flop. Difficult to navigate and a generally bumpy ride.
