I've been looking into them. Meebo seems to be the most used one. I guess an alternative is to use Mogulus and their chat.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for this? We tested Meebo chat a couple weeks ago and we couldn't get their Rooms feature to work. It worked for some, but I wasn't able to interact at all.

Facebook's not a bad option.

What scripts? Like Meebo?

Does facebook have a live chat?

Ben, you could simply install one of those chat scripts on your site.

@Scrivs: Well, budget is somewhat a consideration but $12/mo isn't too bad. I think we can swing $144/yr. Campfire looks perfect by the way. I'll just have to convince a couple of committees that it's worth the investment.

@notMe: I'm looking at Gabbly right now and it looks viable. I'll have to research it further.

I found one that works pretty well and is easy to implement.

http://www.gabbly.com

to use it just link to something like this:

http://www.gabbly.com/yourdomain.com

Yeah not sure the amount of people or budget concerns here, but look at Campfire by the 37signals crew.

A group blog isn't really what I'm looking for, I'd really like a live option. I'll check out 37 signals.

Even though my college students are good with computers I think IRC is a little beyond their expereince.

I believe 37signals has a free program that has a chat room built in. If that doesn't work, what about doing a group blog?

I wasn't sure which community to post this note in so I just picked programming because they're all 1337 in here.

I'm a minister and I have a vision. I've got a group of college students in my church that I'd like to minister to. The problem is they're only in town during the summer and then they go back to their schools for the rest of the year. They're all very computer literate so I'd like to have a sort of "live forum" if there is such a thing.

I envision an online location we can meet at a designated time to have live Bible studies via computer. The only option that came to mind was IRC but I'm not sure of 1. how to set up an IRC room and 2. I'm not sure the college students are that geeky as to know how to use IRC due to the commands.

At any rate, what's my best option?
