I suggest that for anyone doing business, they should rely on their own official email addresses rather than free accounts to relay information. It cuts down on problems sending things back and forth .
I think that depends A LOT on who is providing for your email. In my university, sometimes official emails don't get sent or received. And the scary thing is that you will never know which email was sent, and which wasn't.
Perhaps it is still best to get back to "basic email etiquette"? For example, to shoot the sender a note which says that you've received the email and things like that? I know those action may waste bandwidth and what-nots, but I feel that it's better to check and confirm than to be left in the dark, thinking that the recipient has received your email, when in fact, he hasn't.
I use Facebook alright, but I spend most of my time logged in ignoring applications that are sent my way throughout the day. For the rest of the time I am logged in, I do a quick search for my friends and see whether they have updated anything on their page that is worth looking at (and I'm NOT talking about apps here).
I use some apps, but like the majority of us here, I am very selective, and I don't add anything that are being sent my way just because you were my high school sweetheart (or whatever).
The main reason for this is that I don't like to wade through all those "huggies" and "super pokes" and "super hugs" and "horrible-looking drawings on walls" before getting to the updates that I am interested in.
Apart from turning my blog pink in October, I will also dedicate 2 posts per week in October (considering I don't post daily) to breast cancer awareness issues, just like how I did it last year (I managed only 5 breast-cancer-related posts in the month), such as these:
(1) Ten Dos and Don'ts
(2) Breast cancer: 22 myths you should know
I have already found a pretty pink blog theme which I will use in October!
My Supervisor and I put up a fairly simple exhibition at Berjaya Resorts (I've just learned that Berjaya has a hotel in London), we sold some souvenirs, got some turtle and nest adoptions, my Supervisor gave 2 separate talks on turtle conservation in Malaysia and the outreach programs we're currently running.
On the next day, participants of the Clean Up event went to the turtle nesting beach (on the same island) where my Supervisor gave a briefing before we all proceeded to clean up the beach.
View some pictures in my Flickr account :)
Clean Up the World is a community based environmental program that inspires and empowers individuals and communities from every corner of the globe to clean up, fix and conserve their environment.
And on Clean Up the World weekend (September 14-16th), organizations will engage volunteers to take part in activities designed to clean up, fix up and conserve their local environment.
Berjaya Resort and Sony Malaysia is jointly organizing a Land and Underwater Cleanup this weekend, and my Supervisor has been invited to give a talk on Turtle Conservation in conjunction with the event.
I am tagging along as my Supervisor's facilitator, as well as a representative for a local English Daily.
What about you? Perhaps it's time to clear those cobwebs under the bed? *winks*
I'm sure one will receive tonnes of traffic if one's article appears on the front page of Digg, and to appear on the front page of Digg, one needs to either be an A-lister, or have tonnes of fans who would digg the article.
I experimented with (and learned about) Digg not too long ago, but stopped using it because members of a particular forum I was a member of requested for diggs from other members in return for some favour (e.g. a linkback, a review, whatever).
All of a sudden (OK, maybe not so suddenly), appearing on the front page of Digg is something one can "buy" or "exchange" or "manipulate".
And that defeats the very purpose, no?
A second-hand iPod mini, which is discontinued, if I'm not mistaken.
Nothing else, because a poor student cannot afford an Apple, LOL.
I upgraded to WordPress 2.2.2 a couple of days ago. No problem, the coast is clear :)
Bloglines for me as well! And I'm not thinking of switching readers because of the long list of feeds I'm subscribed to! LOL.
That's quite a list, clicknathan :) It's always good to know that you aren't the only person trying to save the earth :)
It's Earth Day this April 22nd, and I've blogged about what we can do to celebrate Earth Day.
What are you going to do to celebrate Earth Day? :)
There were sooo many experiments that I cannot even recall a decent one now. But recently, I had the chance to draw some blood from the river terrapins, which was very difficult and frustrating at first, but when I got the geez of it, my, it was orgasmic!
I did all three in high school, but majored in Biology in uni. In fact, I think I'm very much better off doing Biology than Physics and Chemistry combined!
And I guess that explains why I have a degree in Marine Biology, and am now working on my Master's in Conservation Biology :)
As for male pregnancy, I'd think it's not going to happen too soon.
I think it is already happening. The male seahorses carry their babies, no? :)
In the university, we've been trained by our lecturers to use both sides of the paper, to save printer toner (or ink) and to practically keep whatever (junk) you were about to trash because believe it or not, you will need those junk one day.
On a more personal note, I walk on campus whenever possible, I climb the stairs instead of taking the lift, I switch off all electrical appliances whenever I'm not home, etc.
But I'm sure there are many more ways to "help the environment" :)
