» Have a Windows XP workgroup/domain question  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by peroty.

Ok thanks.

So in summary, if 2 computers are on differents paths (workgroup vs domain), there is no way to give specific permissions to xyz computer, hence leaving it to EVERYONE IS THE Only way?

Have a Windows XP workgroup/domain question

Microsoft Community — Posted: Feb. 18, 2008  ...   Last By: peroty @ 9 months ago

Hi all,

So here is my predicament.

I have Windows XP Pro on 2 machines, a desktop and a laptop.

The desktop is my home machine and runs on a workgroup.
My laptop is my work machine that I transport everyday between work and home, and it is on a domain.

I am having problems setting file sharing permissions on specific drives/directories that the computers can both access.

The ONLY time these directories become accessibile is if I choose the default "EVERYONE" permissions options.

Here is my question.

If on my Desktop I have the E: drive and I share it, and go to set permissions, at no point can I choose my laptop (CORPORATE\bryan) as a possible machine addition. It only lists items associated with my WORKGROUP. Again, the laptop uses a DOMAIN.

I would prefer to specifically choose the machines that have access to my shares versus the default EVERYONE.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

» 750GB External - Western Digital Versus Maxtor?  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by animejulie.

See, I have used Maxtor for several years and have not experienced the kind of failures you describe. I have a 250gb internal maxtor, a 120gb external maxtor, and a 300gb external maxtor for the last couple of years and haven't had them fail.

That is just my experience.

Weird Wordpress Import error...need help...I am on Dreamhost

Programming Community — Posted: Jan. 28, 2008

I am getting a strange error during the IMPORT process in Wordpress.

I posted on the Wordpress Forums, but here was my question

I have successfully "exported" my blog entries from one of my WordPress blogs (version 2.2.1) and have tried to "import" those entries into my other Wordpress Blog (version 2.3.2).

I get the following error in my error log files because typically Apache or whatever throws the "500 Internal Server Error page".

Premature end of script headers: php5.cgi, referer: http://www.[removed-my-url].com/wp-admin/admin.php?import=wordpress&step=1

What would be causing this? Is it a problem with my version of WP I am exporting from (maybe the export document has been updated)?

Thanks

Windows Prototyping/Wireframe layout software?

Microsoft Community — Posted: Dec. 7, 2007  ...   Last By: Ozone42 @ 12 months ago

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some good software that will allow me to wireframe/prototype a website layout without having to worry about fancy colors or graphics. Just keeping the elements grayscale.

I know Visio is one that can do stuff similar, but are there any alternatives?

thanks,
Bryan

Wordpress plugin Contact Form that supports multiple authors?

Software Community — Posted: Oct. 24, 2007

I am working on a blog that will have dozens of potential authors. Is there an existing plugin that will allow me to create a contact/feedback form where the end user can simply choose a dropdown of the Author Names, and 'said' author will receive their comment?

Thanks,
Bryan

Actually frotzed, that "might" work with what I am asking, but it would be cool if it automated the process so nothing in the link had to be hardcoded besides the link to view "all" postings for a particular category.

Absolutely. That would be awesome!

I did find a temporary bandaid

Wordpress Plugin Posts

My solution, though, was to hardcode each individual category (in the event they actually don't change), and just copy the appropriate PHP code with the cooresponding categoryID. So yea, if I have 20 categories, I have to have 20 PHP calls (I am not a PHP programmer, so that is how I am doing it :) )

Wordpress - Want to display ALL categories with last 10 posts under each category

Programming Community — Posted: Oct. 13, 2006  ...   Last By: Majorchamp @ 2 years ago

I am wanting to display ALL the categories on a page (homepage), and underneath each category the last 10 postings for that category.

On top of that, I want the 11th spot to be like a "more" link that will take you to the specific category in question.

Is there a plugin, at least for showing the last 10 postings PER category that I can use?

Thanks

ChaCha.com is looking for C++, JAVA, ROR, or Web Developers/Designers

Programming Community — Posted: Sep. 28, 2006  ...   Last By: Majorchamp @ 2 years ago

Hi Everyone

So the human assisted search engine I work for, ChaCha.com, is looking for some top notch C++, Java, Ruby On Rails, and Web developers (including designers).

We started our press campaign a couple weeks ago and were talked about in publications such as Cnet.com, USA Today, Information Weekly, and as of this morning, Wired.com. You can view more press at: http://www.chacha.com/info/press

ChaCha was started by Scott A. Jones who pioneered a form of office voicemail that is used by 1/2 billion people on the planet. He also has invented multiple technologies behind iTunes and the iPods.

Everyday we are ramping up a better system and search experience, but we still need assistance. We only want highly qualified developers, so if you happen to fall in one of the categories up above and have an interest in being a part of ChaCha, then send your resume, examples of work, and "why" you are interested to:

webdev-bryan@chacha.com

Though we prefer someone to be in the Indianapolis, IN area, I will not let that stop highly qualified candidates from getting their information to us as anything is possible.

If you want to read up on Scott Jones, visit http://www.scottajones.com

Thanks,
Bryan

Best Web-Based RSS Reader

Technology Community — Posted: Aug. 31, 2006  ...   Last By: Agraek @ 1 year ago

What is the best free web-based RSS Reader out there.

I used to use FeedDemon but the computer it was on has since gone "bunk", so I have decided to start fresh, but with an online one.

I don't really feel like signing up for a bunch of different ones at this time, so any input you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks
