Maybe it's me, but it seems that every time Apple releases anything!

A whole community jumps up and runs of to buy it, i feel sort of left out, because i get emails from products i bought and spent lots of money on telling me that they WON'T work on Leopard, and if i try to search something, it's only Leopard.
Same with the iPods, you have to search in old old archives to find anything for a 1gen iPodNano!!

i am just trying to say that if Apple would release an ordinary stressBall and call it iBall, give it a catchy ad, they would still buy it!

anyone, with me on this one?

I agree. I'm not knocking Apple users but I have to admit it is fascinating to watch. Leopard is one of the first times I noticed true disappointment with something Apple released out of the box. I do wonder if that automatic enthusiasm wasn't there if they would have bought Leopard. Aren't the features being complained about things that were publicly known from betas? I don't follow Apple stuff closely but on the Windows side people knew it sucked before it was released.

You're not in the dust... I'm still on Tiger... for one more day ;)

As for having to look in the archives for outdated information... how is that a surprise? I would expect a company with a support website to have data relevant to their current products in plain sight and archive what they're not actively selling. If they removed it, then I'd be a bit curious as to their intentions.

You can still download System 7.5.5 if you look hard enough.

I'm with ya in the dust, glenndavid. :) I will be for awhile, too. I guess we oldies-but-goodies need to be more vocal. Because it's not as if people are making posts about how Tiger still really rocks.

They are, but those were closed betas that MOST product reviews from avid Apple fans to go by. Only when they GOT the stuff to play with, did they realize it kinda wasn't ALL that cool.

Those of you who feel left out... I had a G3 iBook for a LONG time and had to scream @ Apple when my copy of Tiger came on a DVD. They dropped support for non-DVD drive computers without checking to see what their user base was using. Needless to say I had to wait a month to get a replacement copy on CD's.

I don't think they invest too much in supporting much beyond the bleeding edge and THAT is stupid.

That kind of sucks. Doesn't make it a fair playing ground for consumers. Leopard was hyped so much for so long, I was expecting more...and I'm not an Apple user lol.

I'm still on a 4 year old PC and dont have any flashy next generation game console, how's that for poor?

Also this has been going on forever with apple. I still had a 68k mac with a 12" screen running system 7 when they decided to start catering only to PowerPCs with 7.5.x and above overnight.
And while I did manage to update to 7.5.5, 7.6 and 8 were already out and I was still on the good old pizza box too, so I know what you mean.

P.S: have you ever tried to find a changelog for iTunes at apple's site?

I'm still rocking Tiger too. I'm in no hurry to get Leopard. There's not hugely compelling reason to get it right now.

However.. when things like the next Delicious Library come out... it will be a certain upgrade. ;)

I'm on Tiger too, definitely not itching to drop $100 on Leopard when I can spend half of that and buy another gig of memory which will speed up my computer more than Leopard ever could :)

Any chance you have a college ID layin around Mike? I have mine from '99 and they STILL give me a student discount :)

Oh nice, RightOn. I use my student ID too. There's a student discount for Leopard? What is it? 5% or 50%? ;)

Should be the same as it always has been $69.

CORRECTION... apparently it's too cool for the GOOD price and it's now $116 with the student discount.

Thanks. Perhaps I'll wait 1 month, then, instead of 2 or 3 to upgrade.

Edit: Ugh. Nevermind. Tiger's great!!

Pardon my ignorance, but if you are going to license software illegitimately, why not just download the torrent or the files on usenet? The student price isn't the 'sale' price for those who remember their student ID.

Not condoning it but I've always liked the ol' friend has a copy approach ;)

So you don't "condone" it but you do "suggest" it... repeatedly. How nice.

I'm paying for it, yet now that Apple has pulled their famous TINY discount for 10.5 I think I'll be retiring the ol ID.
