I know I do, but my nano still works, so I'll just wait. The iPod Touch looks pretty sweet, but it's just a iphone with fewer apps. Oooh, I can't wait for a 16gb iphone.

Considering the amount of new iPod Notes that have been posted today it would've been best to state your thoughts there. Yes I want a new one, all of them.

I don't. Waiting on the Gen2 touch- 16GB just doesn't cut it. Especially for 400 bills!
I do like the look of the iPod classic- 160GB will certainly last me a while... but how could I drop money on that when the touch exists? WiFi + Music + Vids = Amazing!! Unfortunately (weak storage + first gen bugs) ruins the equation..

Yes yes yes, I would love a wifi iPod. But I am going to be sensible and be totally happy with my current 30gig iPod video.

I'd consider buying the iPod touch before the iPhone. For me, I can see the practicality of using the iPod for internet-based communications without the monthly fees. That way, I could trade in my smart phone for a basic cell phone and probably end up saving money in the long run.

Why would you rely on an iPod for the internet? Most places there is free, open WiFi, there is a computer!

I don't get it...
an 8GB Nano for $200 (that looks like someone literally ate a regular nano and then really had to squeeze for it to come out the other end.)
or
an 8GB Touch for $300. For an extra $100 you get bigger video, better design, the Internet, and you can pretend like you have an iPhone so the ladies will do the loving to you.

nano is just better for some people- ie people who only have music and don't want their ipod filled with other junk.

There are TONS of locations out there that offer free and open WiFi where one wouldn't necessarily have a computer.
I've been on vacation without my laptop in hotels that offer WiFi...
I've been to gas stations that offer WiFi...
I've been to restaurants that offer WiFi...
and on and on and on... and I could use an iPod to hop on and check up on something if I needed to without having to haul out a full blown computer.

I don't particularly know off hand but on my way back home from a trip to Wisconsin, in Kansas I stopped at a gas station with a HUGE "We offer FREE WiFi!" sticker in the window.
They had booths like McD's where you could stop and rest, and I assume "do some surfin".

400$ for a neutered iphone, hell no
160gb classic for the win. once my current ipod cuts on wrong or even pretends to be broken i'm picking up a classic.

I recently just got my first ipod.
I got the classic 80gb.
I had the choice between that or the iTouch.
Eh. I'm not that impressed by the iTouch.
And the more space, the better.
I'm enjoying my shiny silver ipod.

*ps. Although one thing that stinks is I still haven't figured out how to rip my own videos into it! Grrr... My CREATIVE mp3 did without a problem. But I gave that one away because my iMac wouldn't read the hardware.

@BonitainPink:
There are lots of ways to do it, but you can start with Videora.

I WANT a new iPod, but the one I have works just fine so I'll just wait until it craps out or my boyfriend decides he wants to upgrade from my old 30 GB iPod Photo, whichever comes first.
Oh and I am so sad that Dale has a wifie. :•(

I'll stick with the one I have, as it is more than sufficient for my needs. When it dies, then I will replace it.

Prices are a problem...
iPod Classic, 80 gb, 249 € or $
iPod Touch, 8 gb, i said 8, 299 € or $
That isn't correct I think :)
As someone said it's better to preferer a touch if your forst choise was a Nano, in my case it was.
But if you need storage, it's better to give up the new extra beautiful and cool interface for an iPod Classic...
