They've dropped the 4GB iPhone completely and the 8GB is now $399. Who's going to buy one now that the price dropped $200?

Tempting. I think I will hold out one more month to see how things shake out with the new iPod Touch, but this is a good deal.

Yow. Unfortunately it still hasn't arrived in Iceland. Otherwise I'd buy it.

Ten minutes ago, the Apple Store looked like THIS.
Thirty seconds later, it looked like THIS.
Did I see it before I was supposed to, or did the weight of the entire internets shut down the Apple Store...?

Nah, they do that from time to time when they're updating the store. Strange but true.
@JPhill
Yeah, sucks.

No need for phone anymore, as the new iPod touch has the wi-fi.
Services like Skype and Google's GrandCentral will hopefully release me from greedy silly operators for good.
edit: Shame on me, didn't thought about mic. I'd just want a good wifi-phone so bad.

There's currently no way to plug in a Mic otherwise I could see Skype as an idea...
So I still don't see the point.

wow, I don't think it's ever hurt so bad to be an early adopter.
Luckily I wasn't one!

Sure, I thought about it before... but now that there is only one model and it's the 8GB and for $399, I still wouldn't. I just bought a Palm Tungsten E2 and I love that....

I'd've liked to have saved $200 on the 8GB.
I'd like it if I was pissed on by Apple, too, why can the iPod buy music from iTunes but the phone can't? Not that I would, but extra features...ugh.
Also, what's up with that Nano? Pre.ty.ugly.
And what happened to all of these updates we were supposed to see?

No worries, the iTunes store is coming to the phone. Look at the iPhone page.

I just bought an iphone yesterday at the old and 599 price! I about fell out of my chair when i saw it today that they dropped it 200 bucks...I called my apple store and looked at the back of my receipt...I'm still guaranteed the better price within 14 days! Whewww! Time to make a trip back to the store!

An open letter from Steve Jobs. Looks like everyone that purchased an iPhone will get $100 store credit. Nice to see them take some action.

Much better than what he said here:
One thing I refute in his statement:
I expect companies to get the price point right in the first place. I don't think that's too much to ask and, since they knew they were going to be saving money with the wholesale purchase of the touch screens, I think they could have done a better job pricing it out. Everyone expected the price to drop...8 weeks is unheard of for 1/3 price reduction. It's one of those things I can see both sides.
I'm glad the price has come down because now the phone is a viable option for purchase (although I'll probably go with the Nokia and get the new iPod instead simply because I don't see my long nails playing nice with the iPhone keyboard) and I am sure their sales will spike - which is good. Just get it right the first time because the expense in having to deal with all these issues eats away at the profits.
Last thing, I think it was cruel not to let AT&T know about this so they could properly inform their employees. To me that is just bad business and extremely inconsiderate. It's Microsoftish - that cockiness that never got them anywhere.

I won't buy one, even with the price drop.

I was so set on not buying this rev of iPhones -- but $300 for the 4gb was too good of a deal to pass up. So I went out on lunch and picked one up. $300 isn't that much... honestly. Hell, my last phone didn't even have a camera on it!

@Kyle - I agree. The price difference definitely made it more appealing. I don't think the touch screen would work with my long nails. Maybe I'll go into an Apple store when everything dies down and test it out. Then I can boast I have not one but TWO Apple products! That should score me some brownie points. :) The iPod (because I won't be text messaging on it) make me salivates...I will definitely pick one up. Wait...that would make THREE Apple products! :)
