Adobe's announcement about H.264 video support in the upcoming update to Flash player 9 made me think that maybe that's one of the reasons why the iPhone doesn't support Flash.
One more reason why there is no Flash Player on the iPhone - H.264 support in Flash Player 9

I agree that could be a reason. A more likely reason is that the iPhone will be supported in the final release of the next version of the flash player. There is so much legacy content that could be assessed through the iPhone. I can think of no good reason to exclude iPhone support.

I think there are some security issues with Flash. Don't ask me what they are as I have zero experience with Flash, but I've been hearing that security was the main issue with not supporting Flash.
Anyone with some experience have some insight?
