Some dirt on the sides of the keyboard area....

There's a dark area to the left of the scroll mouse area.

What should I use to get it off, or at least clean it off?

Those Mr. Clean eraser things work well for my Macbook. I'd be open to other people's suggestions though.

I just use a damp soft cloth, perhaps with a little bit of baby wash (something super mild). Go over it lightly, finish off with a dry, super soft cloth. Works for the screen, too.

The Mr. Clean scrubbers don't hurt the computer?

Uninstall OS X.

I kid, I kid! Seriously, though, if I were you I'd be more interested in getting the MacBook off your dirt.

The Mr. Clean scrubbers don't hurt the computer?

It hasn't hurt mine. I don't add water to it, if that makes a big difference.

A friend at the apple store said to just dilute windex with water and use cotton swabs, it works fine with mine. oh wring out the swab before you put the dripping wet thing on the computer though.

Buy a new MacBook. It's a felony to use one that has been tarnished.

All joking aside, I'd use the cotton swab idea.

Purify with fire. Then buy a real computer... Beige hides the dirt well.

First and foremost, it IS dirt right and not discoloration of the plastic?

I learned a big lesson when I first bought my iBook... never put flea dip on your cat with your laptop closer than 10 feet.

She did the shake thing and I have HOLES etched into the palm rest on my iBook. Makes me wonder why I was putting that on my cat when it eats holes in plastic.

Oh and Oli... beige is not that good at hiding dirt. MOST Laptops are a dark color for a reason ;)

I use a Purell wipe on my mouse/keyboard at work. Not sure if I'd use it on my own mac though.
