I have been playing with the iPhone over the weekend and I have to say, despite all the criticism being bandied about on the web lately about this or that, I'm pretty much floored by the thing.

I think the best part about it is how organic the UI feels. For the first time I feel like I'm interacting with real world objects when I navigate around the iPhone because of all the physics taking place. This is what has been missing from user interfaces and devices all these years - a true connection to the physical world.

Needless to say, it makes all other devices feel pretty stiff and cold. I believe the multi-touch features in this phone are what make it such a sensation. It overshadows the other strong points and all the weak points in my opinion.

If you want you can read my whole gushing review here.

So far it's pretty much two thumbs up for me.

I think there are some glaring ommisions as far as features go from ver.1...

like not being able to attach photos to emails or google maps not knowing where you are off the bat.

Seriously... if I'm lost, I'm not going to be able to tell google where I am in order to get directions.

wow. RightOn thank you very much for disillusioning us all...I only now realized the lack of attachments. Gmail is weak...basically just boring old old-school email. Slightly off topic but it's strange using the old reply/ no search kind of email after getting used to Gmail...

Still, this phone does rock (I'm typing this on it now). Kind of funny but my MacBook Pro died about an hour after I got the iPhone ...

Jealousy issues?

I asked someone what an iPhone was earlier today and they actually started explaining it. I thought it was funny.

oh and the lack of copy/paste...

Let us hope these are ALL fixable by a mere "software update". :)

That's the point, really. These are all things that can be fixed with a software update so I think they're completely irrelevant to bitch about.

Hardware gripes, on the other hand, are legitimate although i haven't heard any serious ones other than the GSM antenna.

Fantastic choice of words on the interface, it definitely is organic feeling. The omissions seem to be fixable on the software side which is a good thing, however I still think it's a damn solid v.1 of a product that Apple has never put together nor sold before.
