From the Clip PHOTOS: crazy iPhone queues posted by Tyme:

I admit I was skeptical people would really queue up at 6.00am to buy an iPhone. How wrong I was.

My first thought (after laughing at the guy seeing Laura Bingle in line) looking at the photos: wow, it's cold wherever this was taken. The site seems to be in Australia so I'm assuming that is where these were taken. Wonder in the lines are this long in the US?

Are you getting an iPhone? I'm not getting a new one. I'll probably play around with apps later on today (thank you - finally have AIM for my phone!). I didn't mess with it yesterday because I didn't want to think about anything happening to my phone lol.

I'm guessing the lines in the US were long, considering people began queuing a week ago in NY. Crazy. I'm going to stick with my "old" iPhone I got in February until the batterylife starts wearing out.

Ryan Arrowsmith and I were 7 people from the front of the line here in Tulsa... it was a blast!

We showed up at the mall @ 2:45AM, sat outside until 6 and then stood in front of the Apple store until 8.

@hthth - Wow, I had no idea the lines started that earlier. Crazy.

@RightOn - Haha awesome! Are you enjoying the new phone?

I'm waiting to upgrade since I see people that people who attempt to upgrade get their phone bricked in return. :(

I had a scare this morning as I tried to upgrade to the 2.0 firmware. It loaded on, and then went to activate RIGHT WHEN the activation servers started getting overloaded.

Luckily it only took about 10 minutes after that before I got in and my phone is back.

The App Store is super easy from the phone or iTunes. Twitteriffic is better than the desktop version. I'm loving all the location aware apps. This is pretty exciting.

Tyme, I didn't get one... I was just there to hang out. :)

@RightOn: I am making you the official nerd of Decaflon.

As soon as Ryan gets his pictures downloaded from his camera I'll post some here :)

Was WAY too early and I forgot my Camera.

Scrivs... thanks :P

Ozone, I'm glad you got yours updated. Lots of people are having issues.

If you haven't downloaded the Bloomberg app yet, I highly recommend it. It beats the hell out of the buggy NY Times app and the light-text-on-black-background theme is far easier to read.

If you are having issues activating your 3G iPhone, CALL AT&T... should fix you all up.

I expected it with the first one, but definitely not for this version. I think people just like to wait to wait.

I was suprised there was actually a queue in our local store here. It was about 20 people by the time the store opened and after about 3/4 hour there was about 40+ once the store had opened. I got mine in about 3/4 hour from the opening and in our O2 store no activations were happening in store not sure if this was happening across the Uk or not. I was lucky that the activation went without one hitch as some of the UK didn't hit the server flops that happened later in the day.

My husband on the other hand changed over to use my old iPhone and wasn't so luck as he did the 2.0 upgrade at about 2pm and ended up with a brick for about 6hours. He was ok about it but I do wander what impact it has on people who are turning to the iPhone for the first time which a lot of the 'hand me down' handsets are going to.

My reasons for upgrading were in part so he could have one and in part 'ooo shiny thing' along with giving me a chance to up my tariff which I needed to anyways. I will say the 3g coverage so far is amazing, I was not sure it would work fully in my area but it so far is doing very well. The only issue is my iPhone seems to have a dead pixel but my O2 store have for once come up trumps and are once they get stock in (could be today) replacing it without question.

The major fail in this process was the sign up form online that apparently would make upgrading mean I didn't have to queue - it broke and although O2 did send us all an apology text it wasn't great. I never planned to get inline for this iPhone but ended up having to as couldn't get any date on one being available to order online. Why the rush for me? Well in part I wanted my husband to get one as his old mobile was slowly driving him insane. To be honest, I'd have waited probably until the fuss died down if it wasn't for that.

I upgraded my phone when I got home Friday night/Saturday morning. It upgraded smoothly but perhaps that was due to the late hour. I haven't installed any apps yet - I tried to install AIM but it kept throwing me errors. A couple of my friends had bricks for a while but restoring the phone put them back on track. Unfortunately (and I read this online too) my friends that purchased the new phone are experiencing battery issues.

Ryan Arrowsmith and I at the iPhone 3G Launch in Tulsa...

Ryan snapped the photos, I left my camera @ home. (see if you can spot me)
