It doesn't seem to offer more than the original and the best seems to be the iPhone 2.0 software coming to all iPhones soon. However, for the people who haven't picked one up yet I would think the pricepoints might be too hard to pass up.
I'll be taking a closer look into my options now that's for sure. The games I see coming out for it almost make it a top gaming platform as well. Apple is going after Sony and Nintendo with this one...mark my words.

Nah. But my interest in the iPod Touch went up a notch now.

I'm going to buy it. I don't have one at the moment and since it is now cheaper, I will definitely be picking it up. Ir's more price competitive and it's something that I could better afford as opposed to the ones out now.

I forgot that if the iPhone drops to $199 what does that mean for the price of the iPod Touch? I don't see how they can keep the base one at $299 and expect to sell them unless they are jumping the storage on it to 16gb and that is still stretching it.

Don't forget that the ipod isn't subsidised by a $1200 contract.

Is it true that this is no longer US only? Because that would be ... oh God that will be crazy.

They have been selling to many countries already so they stopped being US only a while ago. They are aiming for 70 countries this year so maybe you will get lucky shadow.
